Teva Pharmaceutical Industries and Samsung Bioepis announced an agreement granting Teva U.S. commercialization rights to two FDA-approved immunology biosimilars: infliximab-abda and ETICOVO (etanercept-ykro). Teva will receive ETICOVO rights upon closing, expected by the end of 2026, and infliximab-abda rights in the third quarter of 2027, while Samsung Bioepis retains manufacturing and regulatory oversight. The agreement includes an upfront payment spread over three years, potential launch and sales milestones, and profit sharing, but the companies did not disclose financial amounts. ETICOVO was FDA-approved in 2019 but is not currently marketed in the United States.

Why it matters strategically
This transaction is distinct from yesterday's Fresenius–WuXi development.
It concerns commercialization of already approved products rather than the construction of a broad development pipeline.
The strategic issue is whether a company can create meaningful value by adding commercial distribution capabilities to biosimilars whose clinical and regulatory development has largely been completed.
